The Cederberg is a range of weathered sandstone about two and a half hours north of Cape Town, with arches, cracked cliffs, clear pools, thousands of years of San and Khoi rock art and some of the emptiest walking country in South Africa. The wilderness area is managed by CapeNature. Access is not currently normal: as checked on 20 August 2026, major parts of the range remained affected by fire and flood rehabilitation, Areas B and C were closed until further notice, the Algeria campsite was closed and the direct road from Clanwilliam to Algeria was closed.
