Who we are
Cape Town Travel Guide is an independent editorial website publishing travel guides to Cape Town and the Western Cape. Contact details are in the site footer and on the contact page.
What we collect
- Information you give us. If you email us — for example to report a correction — we receive your email address and whatever you choose to tell us. We use it only to reply and to act on the correction.
- Technical and usage data. Like almost all websites, our server and analytics record information such as approximate location, browser and device type, pages viewed and referring site. This is used in aggregate to understand which pages are useful and to keep the site working.

We do not ask for or knowingly collect payment details, identity documents or sensitive personal information. We are not a booking agent and we do not process reservations or payments.
Why we process it
To operate and secure the website, to reply to correspondence, to understand aggregate usage so we can improve our coverage, and to meet legal obligations. Where the law requires a lawful basis, we rely on our legitimate interest in running an editorial website, or on your consent where consent is required — for example for non-essential cookies.
Third parties
Some functions rely on third parties who process data on our behalf or in their own right, including our hosting provider, analytics, spam filtering and, where present, affiliate booking partners. Retention
Correspondence is kept only as long as it is useful for the purpose it was sent — typically to resolve a correction and keep a record of it. Aggregate technical data is retained in line with our analytics provider’s settings.
