Location
Kommetjie is a small village on the Atlantic side of the southern peninsula, roughly an hour from central Cape Town. Long Beach runs north from it towards Noordhoek, the Slangkop lighthouse stands at its western edge, and the Cape of Good Hope section of Table Mountain National Park is a short drive south.

Long Beach, the Slangkop lighthouse and the Kommetjie tidal pool are all within the village. Cape Point is around half an hour south, Simon’s Town and the Boulders penguin colony about twenty-five minutes east over the peninsula, and the City Bowl roughly an hour north. Hout Bay is reached along Chapman’s Peak Drive.
