Location
New Church Street runs along the lower slopes below Signal Hill, between Tamboerskloof and the top end of the city centre. The Kloof Street strip is the nearest concentration of restaurants and bars; the Company’s Garden, the museum quarter and Long Street lie downhill to the east. Marriott describes the position as central, within reach of Table Mountain, Kloof Street, Camps Bay and the V&A Waterfront.

Exploring Cape Town from here
Tamboerskloof sits directly under the northern buttresses of Table Mountain. Kloof Nek Road climbs from the top of the suburb to the saddle between the mountain and Lion’s Head, where one road drops to Camps Bay and the Atlantic and another runs to the Table Mountain cableway lower station. Walking downhill instead brings you into the city centre; the V&A Waterfront lies beyond the Foreshore on the far side of the centre.
