Premier Hotel Knysna is a hotel in George Rex Drive, Knysna. The hotel traded for many years as Premier Resort The Moorings before adopting its current name.
Location
The property is at George Rex Drive, Knysna. Knysna sits on a tidal lagoon behind the sandstone cliffs of the Heads, roughly midway along the Garden Route. The town is the region’s best-known base: the waterfront and Thesen Islands sit on the water, the indigenous forests rise inland, and Plettenberg Bay, Wilderness and the Tsitsikamma are all inside an hour’s drive.
Most visitors reach Knysna by road on the N2. George Airport is about an hour west and is the usual arrival point for anyone flying in; Port Elizabeth is roughly three hours east. The Knysna Heads and the lagoon are the town’s centrepiece, with the waterfront, Thesen Islands and Leisure Isle all on the water. The indigenous forests at Diepwalle and Goudveld lie inland, Brenton-on-Sea and Buffalo Bay give open surf beaches west of town, and Plettenberg Bay is about forty minutes east.

December and January are the busiest and most expensive months, when South African school holidays fill the coast; the Knysna Oyster Festival in late June and early July also draws crowds. Spring and autumn usually give the best balance of weather, availability and price.
